ETERNAL CHAOS

Created as a Kingdom Hearts site, Eternal Chaos in a roleplaying site set in what we like to consider a parallel yet alternate universe. This, in essence, means that while canon characters can exist, the events of their respective source material did not happen.  You will RP in the worlds from Kingdom Hearts as well as wonderful worlds staff and users have created. In addition to these worlds, you have arenas, markets, and social areas. As you navigate through the site, you will find many different things your character can do and be able to experience within the Eternal Chaos community. Throughout the time you give to this site, you will play through your character's own story as they are thrown into the stories and plots that occur on the whole site. While you continue through this topic, you will learn all the basics you need to know before jumping headfirst into making your character. As for everything else, you'll figure out by experience. You can also ask for help from any of the members and staff.

Basic Rules

  1. Minimal cursing.
Please keep cursing to a respectable amount. If you must use it, use it once in a while, not every other chance you get. We're all capable writers, there's certainly a myriad of other words and phrases that can be used in place of profanity.

  2. No posting in creation topics unless a Moderator or Administrator.
If you post in any creation topics other than your own, you will be given a warning and all your posts will be deleted from the topic. If it happens again you could suffer a level drop. Even if you are a moderator you could still drop a level if you post something that does not need to be there. Having conversations not relevant to the topic is not allowed. If you need to talk to that person send them a PM, don't violate the rules to do so. One way to get you noticed for being a Moderator is not violating the rules and posting something in the creation topic.

  3. Worlds.
There are 33 worlds on this site and each one has a specific level you must meet in order to join it. That's not to say, however, that you are totally restricted from interacting with those worlds. As you can see, the worlds are divided up into various Overworlds that act as central hubs to the worlds within. If you do not meet the level requirement of a particular world, you are free to RP in the hub area of those worlds, as those have no level restrictions.

  4. Traveling.
While you are allowed to have as many threads as you want on a particular world, unfortunately you cannot be in two overworlds at the same time. In that regard, there are two ways you can travel between worlds. The first is to "recall" back to the Overworld hub for that particular world cluster (you must exit out any threads you have joined in the world you are recalling from) and you may then travel to a different overworld. This method has no cost and can be used at any time. The second method of transportation is portals. This method is the quickest and safest way of traveling, but it is also the most difficult to use. The reason being that you must be trained in the use of portals either by another member who has learned or by an NPC portal trainer. It is possible for more than one person to learn from a single trainer (whether PC or NPC).

  5. God-moding/Metagaming.
No one likes a god-moder. If you are reported as one, you could have a variety of things done to you. One could be as easy as a request to stop by an Administrator or Moderator and given a consequence if you should continue. Another is your character could be locked and rendered unusable for a certain amount of time or even permanently. Save yourself the trouble and just don't do it. Metagaming is when a person takes knowledge known outside of the RP (ie knowing a character is deathly allergic to peanuts outside of RP) and applying it within the RP world. Doing this is expressly forbidden. If you are found guilty of metagaming you will be warned and your post will be deleted. If you continuously metagame, you will be banned from posting for a day. If even after being banned you should continue to metagame for reasons unknown, you will be banned from the site for a week. Any further continuation results in a permanent ban from the site.

  6. Fighting another member.
Fighting does not only have to be in the arena and you could fight with someone in any world, any topic you want. When fighting, the creator of the fight may make up any rules he wants. This can mean extra health and extra damage to attacks. Just remember that when in other created battles, you won’t have the extra additions you created in other fights. Fighting is defaulted to a stat system. Everything you need to know about that is found in the Stat System topic.

  7. Character death.
Death is handled in two ways. The first is if you are a part of a party and you die, your healer could still bring you back to life. The second is you are sent to that world's Overworld and are denied access to continue posting in that topic. Being revived at the Overworld will cost 5% of your current points. Permanent death is possible if you cannot pay the fee to be revived at a world’s Overworld. Permanent death of a character is also a possibility when in plot threads or in certain quests and/or raids depending on the danger tier of the thread. More about the Thread Danger System can be found in the rule entry below.

  8. Thread Danger System
The Thread Danger System determines the level of caution that should be exhibited when entering certain threads. There are four distinct levels to the system ranging from safest to most dangerous: Green, Yellow, Orange, Red. Thread tiers can be changed at any time by the thread participants as long as the change is unanimously agreed upon.
Green - Green tier threads are generally threads such as social threads or basic story threads. These threads have very little, if any, chase of harm befalling a character, fatal or otherwise.
Yellow - Yellow tier threads can include social threads and basic story threads, but also most starting mission threads are included in this tier. Harm is likely to befall a character, though nothing that is too grievous or life-threatening.
Orange - Orange tier threads are where the consequences begin to really have lasting effects. The risk of injury is much higher and death is possible, though the chance of it isn't as high as the final tier. Even still, caution should be exercised.
Red - Red tier threads are the highest tier and most dangerous tier of threads. Grievous injury is an absolute certainty and the probability of death is just as high. Most, if not all, injuries can persist outside of the thread and if not careful, death is not an uncommon consequence. Quests of this tier are considered "high risk, high reward."

  9. Fighting in OOC.
Unlike fighting in a topic when you're your character and fighting another user's character with weapons and skills, fighting someone as yourself with words will not be taken lightly. Depending on how severe, you may be visited by many Administrators about the issue and you could be banned from the site for a few days, or more, or permanently. If you are planning on quitting with a bang, please don't and just quit. Don't make Administrators have to stop what they are doing just to go to the fight and stop it, only to find out you were only fighting everyone who pissed you off just before you left. This will resort in your IP being banned and you will not be allowed to come back. If you must tell everyone how you felt about them before you leave, then post up something in the chatroom. It could be taken down that day or the following, but you are welcome to try and get a few views. When quitting, do not request an Administrator to remove your account from the site or ban it in any way. Simply leave the site. Maybe in a few days/months you will miss us and decide to come back and stay for a little while longer. Coming back to an account that you left is much better then starting all over. Coming back to an old account, rather than making a new one, could also help you stay even longer, because you know you won’t go from being as strong as you were, to level 1.

  10. Out of Character/Conversation (OOC).
Please take OOC to PMs. If you want to know something about someone’s post, then don't hold up the topic with your single post of OOC. However, if you can do OOC and still have a good post, then you may do that. Others can then reply with their OOC and still post as well. If you cannot respond to an OOC message and still post, then just PM them the answer. It isn't pretty to see a topic filled with only OOC.

  11. Events
When an event occurs, you have to be here on the day of the event for whatever prizes that were given out. If you miss the day and start whining to an Administrator about how you missed it and if you can get the prize anyway, then you could be prohibited from the next event entirely. We could give you a warning about it as well, but be cautious with how you ask and when. Events are distributed by Administrators only, and only Administrators know when another one will happen. Do not PM an Administrator badgering them about events. You will be excluded from the event that may or may not happen.

  12. Warnings.
Warnings are a touchy issue, but are required in essence. You start with 5 chances on the forum; any time an administrator or moderator has to forcibly correct your breaking of the rules, you will receive a warning. If you manage to get to 0 chances, you will be banned temporarily and your warnings will be reset to 4. Get to 0 again and the duration will increase, and warnings will be at 2. Get to 0 a third time, and you will receive a permanent ban. (Read below for more information on those.) - If you manage to go 2 months without being punished, you may receive a warning level back as a reward.

  13. Banning.
When banned, you might receive a message in the email account registered under your character telling you why you were banned and for how long. If it is a permaban you can create another account and avoid what you did to get you banned. Do not use the account to request your old account back or we will ban you for a week on that account. Further offences will result in an IP ban. There are not many things you can be banned for, so when you are banned you need to make sure you don't do it again. If in the event you are banned and you have not been given a reason, you may contact Administrators from their email address to ask why, it will be listed at the bottom of the post. We request you only email us for emergencies and not to talk. PM us if you would like to talk.

  14. Warning Levels.
When you break the rules frequently and are causing lots of problems for staff, you will be warned by a reduction of your warning level. If your warning level is below 50% (orange) you will be unable to participate in any site events. Moderators that drop to this warning level will be demoted, possibly permanently.

~Character Rules~

  1. Creating a character
When creating a character, you want to make sure that you use the template we provide and filling everything out as it tells you to. Every part to the template will give you a little information on what to do for that part, so it is pretty easy to follow. Just make sure you try to fill everything out to the best of your abilities and you should be approved right away. All you need to do is check the "Characters In Use" post to see if your character that you want to be is still open. If it is your own character, but a commonly used name, check to see how many character as using that name. We do not want too many users with the same character name.

  2. Changing a Character
You have the ability to change your character once a month. Depending on the day you make your character, you will need to wait for that exact date, or a day after that in the following month. Please ensure that you have been approved to do so and that you have waited a full month after your last character change. When creating a new character, keep in mind that you are going to lose any skills, weapons, and armor possessed by the previous character.

  3. Weapons
Weapons are to be made with the thought in mind that their damage is dependent on the rank at which they are created.  For more information on ranks and damage, refer to the Stat System page.

  4. Armor
Armor is used to hold up so that you can withstand some damage from other users, making it harder for you to die and protecting you from harm. Armor is to be made with protecting only a few bits of attacks, not everything. Make it so you are not invincible in any one armor. Armor and Weapons should not be made together and are to be made separate. This way, each individual armor and weapon has its own distinct link that can be used.

  5. Skills
You can pretty much have any skill you can think of, as long as they are within limitations of the rules. We ask that you refrain from using canon-specific names for skills (unless you are playing as that particular character) and exercise creativity and originality in naming skills. The only thing about skills is that you can’t create multiple skills in one post, please split them up. This is to help Administrators count up your skills later and for you to make absolute links to that specific skill. You can’t make skills that will allow you to use anyone else's skills in any way, shape, or form.

  6. Items
When creating an item, keep in mind that you are not creating it to sell it or give it away to anyone as you see fit. You are creating it to obtain only 1 to 5 of that item, depending on its worth, then for it to be added to the shop to be sold to anyone wanting it. No item is created to be used by only one person and to give special benefits to any one user.

  7. Character Profile
You must create a character profile and add a link to it in your signature. A character profile helps users keep track of what they have, and it lets other users know you have what you say you have. Inventory items should be added to your Character Profile with a date stamp, the shop you got it from, and the page on which you got it from.

  1. Closure
And there you have it, please enjoy your stay here and respect one another like family. Failure to follow the rules will result in a different consequence depending on the rule you break. To save yourself time from breaking each one once to make a log, more than one includes an automatic ban to deactivation. Breaking a few rules in a row might result in that itself. Basically, just do not do it, please. I would love to see no fights here, just us all having fun. Remember, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to PM an Administrator first. However, if the answer is to be found someone in these rules, please search for it in here before talking to an admin. *Hint: using ctrl F opens a search box that will send you to any word you type in it. Use this if you want to know something about skills and you do not want to search for them by eye.*

  2. Adding Rules
Administrators reserve the right to make changes and add on any new rules when they see something is not going correctly to their eyes. It must be taken up with the other Administrators to be voted on if it involves changing a rule, so one Administrator can’t reserve the right to totally change over a rule in the future. When you see an Administrator doing so, report the issue to any other Administrators. Reporting the Administrator to all Administrators means your issue will be looked at faster, but it also means if the Administrator had the right to, you will be getting a bunch of posts from every Administrator about how that Administrator was able to do what he/she has done. So when reporting an admin, make sure you know they were in the wrong.
